BetterTrades Company Meeting
The annual gathering of BetterTrades employees is one of the highlights of the year, as it gives everyone who works for the company the opportunity to come together as a team for meetings, planning and a chance to get to know one another better. Over the last two years it's become more difficult to learn names and recognize faces, as the company has shown dramatic growth.
The company meeting is a chance for BetterTrades founder Freddie Rick to explain his vision for the company for the upcoming year. Freddie likes to aim high when it comes to setting goals and his enthusiasm is contagious among the employees, who appreciate being kept informed about company events and motivated to perform at the highest level.
Because the company has grown so fast, BetterTrades believes it is beneficial to have different groups meet together and discuss ways to improve communication and solve any problems that may have cropped up. For example, the travel team might meet with the trading coaches to talk about problems with hotels or meeting rooms, or the marketing team might meet with the welcome team to talk about producing fresh materials to welcome new students.
The highlight of the meeting is a banquet, which features an outstanding meal and a chance to interact with other members of the company. During the banquet, Freddie and Mitzi Rick present special trophies and awards to high achievers. The award winners always get a few minutes to express their thoughts and appreciation.
On the final day of the meeting, the morning begins with a non-denominational church service, which is usually led by Mitzi Rick's brother, Rev. Rick Brown. After a sumptuous buffet breakfast, each of the specialty coaches has the opportunity to teach their stock market material to their fellow workers, who can then use the information in their own stock market endeavors.
The 2008 company meeting was held at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. The hotel featured large guest rooms with ergonomic desks, high-speed Internet access, as well as spacious meeting rooms and banquet space. Everyone enjoyed the hospitality shown by the people of Texas and look forward to one day visiting the Dallas area for another event.
The 2009 company meeting was held in Atlanta at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North, about 30 minutes away from the new BetterTrades offices in Norcross, as well as about 30 minutes away from downtown Atlanta and all of its attractions. The theme of the meeting was "The Power of One," a motto created to encourage the employees to work together to achieve a common goal. Although the weather was rainy throughout the meeting, many attendees got a chance to use the adjacent Concourse Athletic Club.
The 2010 meeting will return to Atlanta in the spring with another round of discussions, informative sessions and inspirational address from the leadership team. BetterTrades is a company on the move and the company meeting is a good opportunity for everyone to catch up.
